History & foundations
ESReDA was founded in 1992 from the merger of two European initiatives – EuReDatA (European Reliability Data Bank Association) and ESRRDA (European Safety and Reliability Research and Development Association). Building on this legacy, ESReDA has evolved into a recognised reference point for RAMS research and applications, supporting European projects, publishing technical reports and organising high-level seminars dedicated to accident investigation, foresight in safety, resilience and digital maintenance, among other topics.
Our Mission & Vision
ESReDA – the European Safety, Reliability & Data Association – is an international non-profit network that brings together companies, research organisations, universities and public institutions active in the field of safety and reliability. Since 1992, ESReDA has provided a unique forum to exchange data, methods and best practices in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS), helping industry and regulators to design, operate and maintain safer, more reliable systems and critical infrastructures.
Safety and reliability of processes, products and critical infrastructures are key concerns across Europe. Yet expertise, experience and data are often scattered across sectors and countries. ESReDA exists to pool this knowledge, connecting leading experts in safety and reliability engineering and providing a trusted platform where industry, authorities and academia can share lessons learned, analyse accidents and emerging risks, and co-develop practical solutions for safer operations.
Through its project groups, seminars and publications, ESReDA promotes the development and exchange of data, information and knowledge on safety, reliability and risk management. Project groups gather recognised experts to work on specific topics – from accident investigation and dynamic learning to digital maintenance, resilience of critical infrastructures or risk, knowledge and management – and disseminate their results through open technical reports, guidelines and twice-yearly ESReDA seminars.
